This project was an intervention and a remodeling of an apartment from the 80´s in one of the most exclusive and luxury neighborhood´s of Mexico City. Where we were given the task of rethinking all possible interior distribution without affecting the structure of the building.
Therefore, our approach was to respect the wet zones (bathrooms and laundry room), so as not to have to affect the plomery installations in the slightest, and in the other spaces, we see them as areas of opportunity where we were able to rethink and modify them in its totality.
The new configuration of the interior program focused on separating the rest or private areas from the social or semi-public ones of the apartment through a corridor that surrounds the core of vertical circulations and was designed as a space whose walls would function for storage. The entire perimeter wall of this route was used to add storage spaces hidden in a natural wood lambrin with an octagonal design which stands out form the Italian fior di pesco marble floor.
Between the private and social spaces, we proposed transitional spaces which would function as places of recreation for the different areas, in the area of the bedrooms a family room space was proposed, in an ochre tones and with a lot of wood; and in the area between the living room and kitchen, we proposed a bar/play room, in a darker tones and as the main piece a Diamond Galaxy Granite bar in an irregular shape.
The kitchen was an important element in the design requirements, since it was necessary to make the most of the small space that was available, so a cupboard and equipment space was proposed on its side walls, and at the center a marble island which would function as a space to eat and cook.
